More than ever before, the U.S. Department of Defense is paying greater attention to Electronic Warfare (EW) programs. Though the Air Force and Navy have been involved in this space for quite some time, the Army’s involvement is now increasing. The need for understanding has evolved above just detecting and jamming IED devices to more advances such as directed infrared counter measure (DIRCM) solutions, Directed Energy Solutions and Signal Intelligence (SIGINT).
China and North Korea have made recent efforts in electronic attack, making it an important focus area for the U.S. services too. The Army, Navy and Air Force are looking to strengthen their efforts to enable their forces to have more EW tools and capabilities. With multiple RFI’s out and new training programs in order, 2012 will have a big focus on EW.
IDGA’s 2nd Electronic Warfare Summit will discuss the latest technology available to deny the opponent the advantage of, and ensure friendly unimpeded access to, the EM spectrum. This year’s summit will also focus on how EW can be applied from air, sea, land, and space by manned and unmanned systems, to enemy communication, radar, and other services. EW three major subdivisions, Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), and Electronic warfare Support (ES) will all be subsets of this event. This event will address the most pressing issues for tomorrow’s EW needs.
