Summit Speakers Include:

Controlling the Spectrum & Optimizing Tomorrow’s EW Technology

More than ever before, the U.S. Department of Defense is paying greater attention to Electronic Warfare (EW) programs, due to the casualties sustained in Afghanistan by insurgents armed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). In addition, China and Russia have improved their anti-air and anti-ship missiles with sophisticated tracking and guidance radars that incorporate EW countermeasures and widespread export is imminent.

Because of the urgency of this issue, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has set aside an extra $23.67 billion for procurement and research in military communications, electronics, telecommunications, and intelligence (CET&I) technologies. These ventures contain the majority of the Pentagon’s initiatives that involve electronics and electro-optics technologies.

IDGA’s inaugural Electronic Warfare Summit will discuss the latest technology available to deny the opponent the advantage of, and ensure friendly unimpeded access to, the EM spectrum. This year’s summit will also focus on how EW can be applied from air, sea, land, and space by manned and unmanned systems, to enemy communication, radar, and other services. EW three major subdivisions, Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), and Electronic warfare Support (ES) will all be subsets of this event. This event will address the most pressing issues for tomorrow’s EW needs.

Specific topics to be addressed include:

  • Fighting the threat of IEDs
  • Controlling the electromagnetic environment in land warfare
  • Combating major EW tenets
  • Technology and EW initiatives
  • Electronic emissions and signatures
